Long ago the world was shattered into many floating islands known as Arks. Ophelia lives on Anima, an ark where objects have souls. When she is promised in marriage to Thorn, Ophelia must leave her family and follow her fiancee to the floating capital on the distant Ark of Pole. Though she doesn't know it, she has become a pawn in a deadly plot.
Long ago, following a cataclysm called 'The Tear,' the world was shattered into many floating celestial islands. Known now as Arks, each has developed in distinct ways and at a different pace; each seems to possess its own unique relationship to time. Ophelia lives on Anima, an ark where objects have souls, with which Ophelia can communicate. When she is promised in marriage to Thorn, from the powerful Dragon clan, Ophelia must leave her family and follow her fiancee to the floating capital on the distant Ark of the Pole. Though she doesn't know it yet, she has become a pawn in a deadly plot.

Christelle Dabos was born on the C te d'Azur in 1980 and grew up in a home filled with classical music and historical games. She now lives in Belgium. The Mirror Visitor, her debut series, won the Gallimard Jeunesse-RTL-T l rama First Novel Competition. Since graduating in French from Oxford University, Hildegarde Serle has worked in London as a newspaper subeditor, mainly on The Independent and The Sunday Telegraph. In 2011, she decided to combine her love of both English and French by doing the Chartered Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation. Although she still lives in London, her heart still lives on the Quai aux Fleurs in Paris.
