Die drei Bände "Miscella Neolatina" enthalten auf nahezu 1800 Seiten 66 in den letzten 15 Jahren sehr verstreut erschienene, ausgewählte Aufsätze des Doyen der deutschen Neolatinistik aus den verschiedensten Bereichen der neulateinischen Literatur und der frühneuzeitlichen Kultur. Sie behandeln das Verhältnis des Humanismus zum Christentum und zum Studium des Griechischen, besprechen universitätsgeschichtliche Themen, erklären lateinische Texte auf Kunstgegenständen und untersuchen neulateinische Textformen wie die Epik, die Lehrdichtung, die Dramatik, die Epigrammatik, Elegie und Lyrik, die Stadt- und Landbeschreibung sowie die Brief-, Reden- und Geschichtsschreibung, sie betreffen Deutschland, Italien, die Niederlande und Frankreich und diskutieren die Situation und die Methoden der gegenwärtigen neulateinischen Forschung. The three volumes of ‘Miscellanea Neolatina’, comprising nearly 1800 pages in all, contain 66 selected essays by the doyen of German Neo-Latin studies on diverse topics in the fields of Neo-Latin literature and early modern culture which have appeared in a wide range of publications over the last 15 years. The essays examine the relationship of Humanism to Christianity and to the study of Greek, discuss the history of universities, interpret Neo-Latin texts on works of art, and survey types of Neo-Latin text such as epic, didactic poetry, drama, epigrams, elegy, lyric poetry and topographical writing, alongside letters, addresses and historiography. They cover Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and France, and discuss the state and the methodology of contemporary Neo-Latin studies.
