'Jesus And Jerusalem' is a companion book to 'Who Is The Israel Of God' that seeks to dispel the belief that Jesus Christ of Nazareth will return to earth to sit on a throne in the physical city of Jerusalem to rule the world. While not an exhaustive study on this subject, 'Jesus And Jerusalem' lays out the Biblical worldview of Jesus' present and future ruling and reigning from His current position as He sits on the throne at the right hand of Father God.

Kevin Drury was gloriously saved in a Motel 6 second-story room in Yuma, AZ. Kevin was pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player and was at Spring Training in the San Diego Padres AA camp. Jesus walked into his life in April of 1980 and began the ongoing process of spiritual transformation that continues to this day. Kevin is a passionate disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ who is passionate about discipling others to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He believes Christ is Heaven's model and every Christian's role model for life and ministry. Through the non-profit Revolution Movement, he leads people to follow Jesus and find His purpose for their life. Kevin is the author of eight books, 'Welcome To The Wilderness', 'Leaving The Land Of Your Limitations', 'Christianity The Way Jesus Lived It', 'Promises And Prayers For Our Posterity', 'Sermon On The Mount', 'Devotional For Disciples [Based on SOTM]', 'Who Is The Israel Of God', and 'Jesus And Jerusalem'.
"e;Jesus And Jerusalem"e; seeks to dispel the belief that Jesus Christ of Nazareth will return to earth to sit on a throne in the physical city of Jerusalem and rule the world. Kevin's last book, "e;Who Is The Israel Of God,"e; ended with an epilogue that detailed how Jesus, Peter, and Paul - who were all Jewish men and men of great importance to the revelation God presented to natural Israel and then the world at large - stated the house of Israel was fully culpable for the murder of Jesus Christ. Do you know the Scripture reveals the last days began with Jesus' Immaculate conception? Do you know John the apostle wrote that he and his contemporaries were in the last hour? Do you know John said the antichrist was coming, in his day? What if the day we live in is the day of restoration, not degradation and devastation? What if we are living in the time when God is restoring creation to how it was before Adam's sin? If we are living in such a time as this, then what is our responsibility in co-laboring with God in His restoration project? In "e;Jesus And Jerusalem,"e; Kevin Drury invites you into the journey of a lifetime where he believes you will discover the life God planned for you before the foundation of the world.

I

Introduction And Overview

My last book, Who Is The Israel Of God, ended with the Epilogue titled Natural Israel’s Indictment. I detailed how Jesus, Peter, and Paul, who were all Jewish men, and men of great importance to the revelation God presented to natural Israel and then the world at large, stated the house of Israel was fully culpable for the murder of Jesus Christ. That is a hard saying for many, especially those of the dispensational, Christian Zionist, and Messianic movements within Christianity.

Nevertheless, it is still true today and in this, my eighth book, I will present the case that the Jerusalem in the modern State of Israel is not the center of God’s purposes in the earth. That is also a hard statement for many to accept.

Truth that confronts long held beliefs can be hard to swallow.

In John 6 and 1 Corinthians 15 we find a reference to the last day. So many today are fixated on the last days believing we are the “terminal” generation.

Jesus and Paul speak of the end as the last day. Jesus is reigning in heaven UNTIL all His enemies are a footstool for His feet. Then Jesus will return to earth, the resurrection of all the dead will occur, death will be abolished, and Jesus will hand the kingdom over to the Father.

Therefore, when Jesus comes at the end there is no need for:

1. A new Jewish temple in Jerusalem

2. A Millennial reign of Jesus in Jerusalem resulting in Satan being bound and released

3. People being saved

4. People dying at Armageddon at the end of the Millennium

Physical Jerusalem is called in New Testament Scripture – Babylon, Sodom, Egypt, Mount Sinai, Hagar, bondwoman, and slave. Paul said she is to “be cast out” in Galatians 4:30.

In this book I show:

  1. Jesus fulfilled all Old Testament prophecies and promises in His first coming
  2. Jesus’ stance on physical Jerusalem
  3. Jesus’ stance on the kingdom as it relates to Jerusalem
  4. Jesus on Jerusalem’s judgment
  5. Jesus as a king on earth
  6. Jesus as a priest on earth
  7. Jesus’ throne and His place of rule
  8. Jesus and construction

Some Things of Importance As We Move Forward

Jesus is perfect theology!

“I and the Father are one.”3

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you for so long a time, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, “Show us the Father”?’”4

“1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”5

God is speaking in ‘these last days through,

by, and in His Son!

“1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world.”6

The last days began when Jesus

arrived on the planet as a Baby!

“1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world.”7

“When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.”8

All things are summed up in Christ Jesus!

“9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.”9

Jesus Christ was crucified at the consummation,

or the end of the ages [world]!

“Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”10

All of God’s promises are in Christ Jesus!

“For as many as the promises of God are, in Him they are yes; therefore through Him also is our Amen to the glory of God through us.”11

Jesus Filled Full All Prophecies And Promises!

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill [fill to the fullest, give the complete, and total meaning to, the totality of it].”12

Jesus stated emphatically that in His first coming ALL the Law and ALL the prophets [prophetic utterances about Him] He would fulfill. If Jesus gave the complete and total meaning to the Law and Prophets then there are no further Old Testament prophetic promises related to Jesus apart from His work 2000 years ago.

Both the words ‘Law’ and ‘Prophets’ are capitalized which means He fulfilled the actual sacred text of the Old Testament Scriptures.

Jesus said ALL [the] things WRITTEN by the prophets [in the Old Testament] WILL BE accomplished. When? His first coming. How? In His betrayal by the Jews, His abuse by the Roman cohort, His death on the Cross, His burial, and His resurrection [2000 years ago]. Where? In Jerusalem!

“31 Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, ‘Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all [the] things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 For [the sole reason or purpose of] He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. 33 They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.’ 34 But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.”13

Jesus was not saying that His death, burial, and resurrection was all that was going to be done, but that everything was done in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Unfortunately, there are believers today that have no idea what Jesus said. One of the reasons, I believe, is because believers believe what their favorite teacher tells them is the truth, and when they do read the Bible they read it through the lens of someone else’s “truth.”

There are two ways to read and study Scripture. One is called eisegesis which is reading into a text what you believe it says and means. The best way is called exegesis. Exegesis is allowing the text itself to tell you what it says and means. The Bible will explain itself if we allow it to.

When was everything going to be accomplished? When Jesus went to Jerusalem.

How was everything going to be accomplished? He would be handed over to the Gentiles [Romans]. He would be mocked, insulted, and spit upon. He would be scourged and killed. And on the third day He would rise again.

Where was it all going to be accomplished? In Jerusalem.

Jesus was preaching and teaching what is called “the finished work.”

“It is finished”!14

What Jesus was communicating in this statement was much more than He was about to give up His Spirit and physically die. He was communicating everything written was finished.

Everything is based on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Without His finished work, nothing gets finished.

God always finishes things before He starts things.

Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world.15 Before there was a world Jesus died for the world.

Isaiah knew this and prophesied about it. “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My plan will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure’;”16

Hebrews 1:1,2

“1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the [OT] prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.”

“In time past” was said two thousand years ago. My, how much time has now past, and people still cannot comprehend that revelation. God, in times past, spoke in, by, and through the Old Testament prophets.

“But in these last days” referred to the days all of this was written, meaning, two thousand years ago. The “to us” referred to those alive two thousand years ago.

The writer of Hebrews, who I believe was Paul the apostle to the Gentiles, was writing to Hebrew Christians in Judah and Jerusalem who were being tempted with abandoning Christ and returning to Judaism. Some of them...
