Robbie Adler-Tapia, PhD, is a licensed psychologist who has worked with children and families for over 35 years. Her work as a psychologist, educator, consultant, researcher, and writer has been at the cutting edge of trauma treatment in young children. She has extensive experience in child welfare, the forensic arena, and working with first responders and public safety officials. Dr. Adler-Tapia presents internationally on treating trauma in children, including using EMDR therapy for attachment and dissociation. She has taught graduate- level coursework and supervised interns. Her volunteer work includes promoting EMDR therapy for the most vulnerable children, including training therapists worldwide who work in the child welfare system and those working with children orphaned by AIDS; she also assists Post Incident Stress and Trauma in Law Enforcement (PISTLE), a nonprofit for those working in law enforcement. Carolyn Settle, MSW, LCSW, lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, and has over 44 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced abuse, trauma, and/or loss. She has presented and written about children and adolescents in her coauthored book EMDR and the Art of Psychotherapy With Children: Guidebook and Treatment Manual (2023), now in its third edition. She has presented at numerous EMDR conferences nationally and internationally and will soon release an international course on EMDR with children. She is also the coinvestigator of a fidelity study concerning EMDR with children, and she has coauthored three chapters and three journal articles on EMDR with children. She is an EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)-approved consultant and an EMDR Institute trainer.
