Cuba in the nineteenth century was characterized by social struggle. Richard E. Morris is Professor of Spanish at Middle Tennessee State University. His research spans a range of topics, including Spanish dialectology, the geopolitics of sugarcane, and the development of U.S. tourism in Cuba. His documentary Milton Hershey’s Cuba was a selection of the 2016 Culture Unplugged Film Festival.
