Written by a Baptist minister, a handbook for churches preparing to implement the Churches Manifesto for the New Millennium, in the year 2000. It contains practical advice, tips, checklists and addresses as well as ideas for making churches more inviting and accessible to the people.
A lively and thought-provoking book on the churches initiative on the year 2000 interspersed with practical help and ideas to help the Church face up to a new era. Boring, out-of-date and irrelevant? Or do churches have a place in the new Millennium? On 2nd January 2000 the Queen will be attending church as part of a nationwide initiative to encourage people to give church a chance at the start of the new millennium. Thousands of local churches will open their doors and make a manifesto commitment which will include the following: The place will be warm Your children will be looked after The sermon will be relevant You won't be made to look stupid The service will be intelligible There will be good coffee afterwards You will be given a chance to think about God This book will prepare for this initiative and the Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey, and Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Basil Hume will both contribute practical ideas and ways for churches to implement The Churches Manifesto for a New Millennium. Everything a church will need, from whatever tradition or denomination, to be ready for the big day.
Advice, tips, check lists and addresses will be included along with lots of encouragement and support.
