This fresh new release is a beautiful, hip guide to the world of coffee brought to you by New York Citys popular connoisseur coffee chain, Joe. Written from the point of view of owners (and siblings) Jonathan and Gabrielle Rubinstein, the reader is welcomed into the tight-knit international specialty coffee community of committed growers, buyers, roasters, entrepreneurs, baristas, and drinkers. Their mission: to source, purchase, roast, serve, and drink the worlds finest coffees.
The brother and sister Rubinstein team have been and continue to be leaders in the growth of the specialty coffee movement in the United States with the goal to be obsessively committed to producing coffee as a culinary art. Their small chain of joe coffee bars has been named one of the 10 best coffee bars in the United States by Food and Wine Magazine and one of the 10 outstanding coffee bars in New York City by The New York Times as well as garnered awards from New York Magazine, Time Out New York, and the Village Voice. Jonathan lectures on the art of coffee as well as consults restaurants on their coffee service. Among their radio, television, and media appearances are The Martha Stewart Show, Martha Stewart Living Radio, Good Morning America, most local New York City television and radio news and entertainment shows, Krups USA and Murray’s Cheese national press campaigns, and New York University’s Steinhart School of Business lecture series on entrepreneurship. After just a few months, joe has some 2,000 followers on Twitter. They don’t don't use Facebook yet -- however there is a fan page that has about 1000 friends and “likes.” They get about 1500 people a month on their website, and have some 950 subscribers to their monthly newsletter. They are interested and eager to promote the book as part of their overall brand. JUDITH CHOATE is a multiple-James Beard award cookbook author who has written or co-authored many prize winning books for some of America’s greatest chefs. She lives in New York and celebrates the history and creativity of the American food scene. STEVE POOL is an in-demand food photographer who has worked with some of America’s leading culinary icons. Beyond food, he is also creating a photo-essay on the Day of the Dead as celebrated in Oaxaca, Mexico.
