Richard Tames read history at Cambridge and took his Master's Degree at the University of London. He has been a speaker at the Japanese Embassy for thirty years and was formerly Head of External Services at the School of Oriental and African Studies. He is the author of ENCOUNTERS WITH JAPAN and SERVANT OF THE SHOGUN and also in this series, A TRAVELLER'S HISTORY OF LONDON. His style is fluent and entertaining.
