Robert Bloch, 1917 in Chicago geboren, interessierte sich schon früh für Literatur, zunächst vor allem für Science-Fiction und Fantasy. Im Jahr 1959 veröffentlichte er seinen Roman Psycho, dessen Verfilmung ihn über Nacht berühmt machte. Er schrieb unzählige Drehbücher, Krimis und Thriller. Bloch starb im September 1994.
