JEFREY S. NEVID is professor of psychology at St. John's University in New York, where he directs the doctoral program in clinical psychology, teaches graduate courses in research methods and behavior therapy, and supervises doctoral trainees in psychotherapy. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany and was awarded a National Institute of Mental Health post-doctoral fellowship in mental health evaluation research at Northwestern University. He has published numerous articles in such areas as clinical and community psychology, health psychology, training models in clinical psychology, and methodological issues in clinical research. He formerly taught at Hofstra University before joining the faculty at St. John's. He holds a diplomate in clinical psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology, is a Fellow of the Academy of Clinical Psychology, has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, and has authored or co-authored several textbooks in psychology and related fields. BEVERLY A. GREENE is professor of psychology at St. John's University and a licensed psychologist in private practice in New York City. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Clinical Psychology, and the American Orthopsychiatric Association. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Adelphi University and holds a diplomate in clinical psychology (ABPP). She has served on the editorial boards of the journals Violence Against Women, Journal of Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, Women & Therapy, and Journal of Feminist Family Therapy. She was also the founding co-editor of Psychological Perspectives on Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Issues. She is currently co-editing (with Leslie Jackson), Psychotherapy with African American Women: Psychodynamic Perspectives (Guilford Press). Dr. Greene is the recipient of numerous national awards for her contributions to issues relating to diversity in professional psychology. She was the recipient of the Women of Color Psychologies Publication Award (1991), the Distinguished Humanitarian Award from the American Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology (1994), and the Psychotherapy With Women Research Award from the APA Division of Psychology of Women (1995, 1996). He co-edited book, Women of Color: Integrating Ethnic and Gender Identities in Psychotherapy, was honored with the 1995 Distinguished Publication Award and the 1995 Women of Color Psychologies Publication Award, sponsored by the Association for Women in Psychology. She was also the recipient of a 1996 Outstanding Achievement Award from the APA Committee on Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Concerns for pioneering scholarship and training efforts relating to the interaction of gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation in contemporary psychology.
