Graduating in 1951 Whitney Balliett has worked for several publications writing essays and reviews on jazz music. A Journal of Jazz brings together a collection of his work over the last fifty years. Whitney Balliett is now the jazz critic for The New Yorker. He is married to the painter Nancy Balliett. They live in New York City.
