There has been a trend towards a growing interest in religion, and with it has come increased interest in questions of the perceptibility and reality of God. In this search, semiotics, i.e. the theory of signs, has increasingly proved its worth as a suitable methodological aid. The studies collected in this volume attempt to mobilise semiotics for talking about God among theologians, in churches and in schools. The topics range widely, from questions of truth, certainty and tolerance, through the search for the “essence of Christianity” to questions about the significance for salvation of the death of Jesus Christ and his Resurrection, and the sense of the doctrine of the Trinity. All the studies aim to make authentic and comprehensible statements about Christian faith.
