Lei Sun is a distinguished Professor in International Development at ShanDong University of Finance and Economics, China. She is and was a visiting scholar at the Department of Economics in the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was a Research Associate at African International Affairs Program at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was an expert as ad hoc experts group meeting for United Nations Economics Commission for Africa for theme with Africa Policies of agricultural and rural transformation. She was co-author for the Report of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, "Rethinking Africa's Agriculture and Rural Transformation in the New Global Context: Challenges, Opportunities and Policy Options". She was acting Director at International Cooperative Division in China Center for Urban Development.
