He has done extensive research in three areas: theory of economic efficiency, economics of uncertainty and the modern theory of economic growth with applications to India and the south east Asian countries. In the field of management science and operations research he has made significant contributions in the theory of stochastic linear programming and the nonparametric theory of data envelopment analysis.
