This book presents the select proceedings of the 48th National Conference on Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power (FMFP 2021) held at BITS Pilani in December 2021. It covers the topics such as fluid mechanics, measurement techniques in fluid flows, computational fluid dynamics, instability, transition and turbulence, fluid‐structure interaction, multiphase flows, micro- and nanoscale transport, bio-fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, turbomachinery, propulsion and power. The book will be useful for researchers and professionals interested in the broad field of mechanics.

Dr. Suvanjan Bhattacharyya is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus. Dr. Bhattacharyya completed his post-Doctoral research from the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, University of Pretoria, South Africa, under the supervision of Prof. Josua P Meyer. Dr. Bhattacharyya completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and with the collaboration of Dusseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Germany. He received his master’s degree from Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, India (Formerly known as Bengal Engineering and Science University), on Heat-Power Engineering. His research interest lies in computational fluid dynamics in fluid flow and heat transfer, specializing on laminar, turbulent, steady, unsteady separated flows and convective heat transfer, experimental heat transfer enhancement, solar energy, and renewable energy. He is the author and co-author of 90 papers in high ranked journals and prestigious conference proceedings. Dr. Suvanjan appears in the recent list of World’s top 2% scientists published by faculty members of Stanford University. Dr. Saket Verma is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus. He did his PhD and M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Dr. Verma works extensively in the field of hydrogen fueled IC engines and their application for vehicular purposes. He is also worked on Dual Fuel operation of diesel engine and utilization of alternative fuels such as biogas and CNG in addition to hydrogen. Currently he is working on the battery thermal management in electric vehicles. He is the author and co-author of multiple papers in high ranked journals and prestigious conference proceedings.Dr. A R Harikrishnan is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus. He received his B. Tech. (Hons.)  in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calicut, Kerala in 2013. He did his M.S. and Ph.D. (through a dual degree program) from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (Tamil Nadu) under the supervision of Prof. Sarit K Das and Dr. Sateesh Gedupudi. The dissertation deals with the interfacial and evaporation characteristics of complex nano colloidal droplets and its surface interaction. His major areas of research interest include droplet dynamics, droplet evaporation characteristics, interfacial physics and micro-nano scale heat transfer. He started his research carrier as a project officer working on a consultancy project funded by Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) one of the leading tractor and farm equipment manufacturer based in Chennai, at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. After completing the doctoral studies, he worked as institute post-doctoral fellow at Indian Institute of Technology Madras for six months.
