The rise of modern antimicrobial drug resistance has evolved into a pressing global health crisis, challenging the very foundation of our ability to combat infectious diseases. The overuse and accessibility of antibiotics, particularly in emerging nations, have given rise to resilient "superbugs," rendering common medications ineffective. This escalating challenge poses a significant threat to public health and leads to heightened healthcare costs, prolonged patient stays, and increased mortality rates. As communities grapple with the urgent need for a coordinated response, a comprehensive understanding of antimicrobial drug resistance and innovative strategies becomes paramount. Frontiers in Combating Antibacterial Resistance: Current Perspectives and Future Horizons is meticulously crafted for academic scholars, researchers, and healthcare professionals. It addresses this critical issue head-on and serves as a beacon of knowledge and a solution-oriented guide. With a focus on elucidating the mechanisms behind antimicrobial drug resistance and exploring emerging therapeutic targets, the book presents an in-depth analysis of the problem. It spans environmental, genetic, and climatic factors influencing resistance, delving into cutting-edge technologies and sustainable strategies for prevention. By offering a holistic view of the issue and proposing evidence-based solutions, the book is an indispensable resource for those seeking to navigate the complex landscape of antimicrobial drug resistance. Frontiers in Combating Antibacterial Resistance: Current Perspectives and Future Horizons aims to raise awareness, guide policy decisions, and foster international cooperation. It is a comprehensive educational tool, equipping students, researchers, and healthcare professionals with the knowledge needed to tackle this global menace. Ultimately, the book's contribution lies in understanding the complexities of antimicrobial drug resistance and empowering individuals and communities to enact meaningful change in the face of this formidable challenge.

I am working as Associate Professor at Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana (India) since Mar. 02, 2021. I had taught B. Pharm., M. Pharm. and Pharm. D. students and supervised 07 M. Pharm. (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) students in the research area of Drug Design and Medicinal Chemistry. I am currently guiding 03 Ph.D. students in the area of Drug Design and Discovery. My present areas of research include structure-based drug design and medicinal chemistry of matrix metallo proteinase (MMP2 and MMP9) inhibitors as anticancer agents, antibacterial drug resistance (NDM-1), glucokinase activators as anti-diabetic agents, aldose reductase inhibitors for diabetic complications, PPAR agonists for treatment of metabolic syndrome, multi-potent anti-Alzheimer's agents, selective PDE4 and PDE7 inhibitors as anti-inflammatory agents and environmental chemistry. I had published a total of 80 articles in national and international journals of repute, 11 book chapters, 5 books, 5 patents and various poster presentations (15) at several conferences (both national and international). Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy, Yamuna Nagar. · Pharmaceutical Chemistry M. Pharm., PhD, PDCR Kunal Nepali is an Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University, Taiwan. Kunal joined the School of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University as an Assistant Professor on 17-01-2019 and is currently handling independent research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as well as Taipei Medical University. He has expertise spanning medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis with ten years of experience in a broad range of drug development projects. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the year 2012 from ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab, India. During his doctoral studies, he worked under the supervision of Dr. K.L Dhar, a pioneer organic and medicinal chemist of India, and systematically explored various areas of rational drug design and natural product chemistry. He then joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, at Guru Nanak Dev University as an Assistant Professor and served in that capacity until mid-2014. Along with the teaching assignments, he was actively involved in research projects and explored various areas of Catalytic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. With an overwhelming stint as a teacher and a researcher, he was determined to expand the horizon of his expertise by gaining international exposure. To accomplish this, he moved to Taipei Medical University, Taiwan in October 2014 as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratories of Professor Jing Ping Liou. His research work at the post-doctoral level involved the design of new chemical entities with desired biological activities and the development/optimization of synthetic procedures for the preparation of compounds along with structure-activity relationship studies. It was his exemplary research work at the post-doctoral level that earned him a highly competitive faculty position at the School of Pharmacy, Taipei Medical University. Overall, his research endeavors employ a rational structure-based drug design approach that lies at the interface of chemistry and biology to treat cellular processes dealing with chronic molecular stress. He made a significant contribution to the field of Medicinal Chemistry throughout his post-doctoral tenure and earned an Outstanding Post-Doctoral Researcher award, from Taipei Medical University five consecutive times 2014-2018. He is the author of a good number of research/review articles and is an ad-hoc reviewer of various reputed journals in the field of biomedical sciences. He has also received various recognitions and awards as a reviewer for Medicinal Research Reviews, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letter, and others Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy: Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, IN 2017-10-01 to present | Associate Professor (Pharmacy) Arun Lal Srivastav works as an Associate Professor at Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, India. He obtained Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, India. He has done post-doctoral research at National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan. He is currently involved in teaching Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Disaster Management, and Design Thinking to undergraduate engineering students. His research interests include Water Quality Surveillance, Climate Change, Water Treatment, River Ecosystems, Soil Health, Phytoremediation and Waste Management. He has published over 80 research papers in various prestigious journals (Elsevier, Springer Nature, IWA, Wiley, etc.), including book chapters and conference papers. He is the editor of 17 books with Elsevier, Nova, Springer, IGI Global, and Wiley.
