Roland Robertson is Professor of Sociology at Aberdeen University. One of the world's pioneers in the study of globalisation. His previous publications include Globalization: Social Theory and Global Culture (1992) and Meaning and Change: Explorations in the Cultural Sociology of Modern Societies (1978). David Inglis is Lecturer in Sociology at Aberdeen University. His main research areas are in social theory, cultural theory and the sociology of culture. His previous publications include (2003) Confronting Culture: sociological vistas.
