While the US media were accused of sanitizing their
coverage of the 2003 Iraq War and cheerleading for
the Bush administration, the Arab, and more
specifically Egyptian media were criticized for
their bias, sensationalism and anti-Americanism. A
content analysis was conducted on two of Egypt s
online publications, the English-language Al Ahram
Weekly, and the French-language Al Ahram Hebdo, to
examine how the war was framed by the two
newspapers.
This book should appeal to a general audience
interested in learning more about the newspaper
industry in Egypt and more particularly to
journalism and mass communication students.

Ingrid Wassmann is a free-lance journalist. She holds a BA in
international relations from Stanford University and an MA in
journalism and mass communications from the American University
in Cairo. She currently lives and works in Egypt.
