Text analysis tools aid in extracting meaning from digital content. As digital text becomes more and more complex, new techniques are needed to understand conceptual structure. Concept Parsing Algorithms (CPA) for Textual Analysis and Discovery: Emerging Research and Opportunities provides an innovative perspective on the application of algorithmic tools to study unstructured digital content. Highlighting pertinent topics such as semantic tools, semiotic systems, and pattern detection, this book is ideally designed for researchers, academics, students, professionals, and practitioners interested in developing a better understanding of digital text analysis.
Uri Shafrir is associate professor in Department of Human Development and Applied Psychology at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and Director of Adult Study Skills Clinic at Faculty of Information of University of Toronto. His recent research focuses on concept parsing algorithms in various knowledge domains and on instructional methodologies for deep comprehension of conceptual content that enhance learning outcomes. Shafrir received doctorate in mathematical sciences from the University of California at Los Angeles and doctorate in developmental psychology from York University, Toronto. Shafrir was founder and director of the Institute of Planetary and Space Science at Tel-Aviv University; before moving to the University of Toronto he was Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin and at Columbia University. Masha Etkind is professor in the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University. She teaches design, theory and history of architecture. Her work and recent research focus on heritage conservation, language and roots of living architecture, as well as on Pedagogy for Conceptual Thinking in architectural education. Etkind received a professional degree in architecture from St. Petersburg University of Architecture and Engineering, and Masters in Architecture from the University of Toronto. Etkind is member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
