Chapter 1
Awakening
“We are all manifestations of Source, yet each manifestation is individuated. When lovers are awakened to their own and the other’s energy being, the veil falls away, and they realize their connection to one another through Source. It’s God touching herself.”
—Terence
The Realization
They lay there in one another’s arms, in the darkness. Not sure what time it was, not that it mattered, but perhaps 5:00 or 5:30. They had been making love since 3:30, and all the evening before. They both had orgasmed multiple times, yet he had not ejaculated. Now the couple lay in complete darkness, in total stillness, feeling the energy of the universe flowing through them.
He melted into her and felt her energy. She melted into him and felt his. Barely moving, breath synchronized, they felt the kundalini flowing strongly in themselves, in the other, and between them. Shiva and Shakti rising and flowing. They felt that connectedness with Source and everything and everyone else – it was God touching Herself. It was a continuous joyous orgasm – and orgasm with Source and the universe.
He could feel every inch of her skin against his – the heat of her body melting into his. It was a complete awareness of every part of his body touching hers. The top of his foot against her ankle. The outside of his left thigh against the inside of her right thigh. His knee touching the bed. Her belly against his. Her soft breasts against his chest. His mouth softly kissing her shoulder while her hand touched his sacrum. The energy flowed from each point of contact to the other points of contact.
He could feel her cells penetrating his body. Her cells and fluids and energy of her orgasm penetrating the thin membrane of the skin of his lingam. Her cells and fluids carried the energy of her feelings and her memories and her energy deep into his body. Her warmth emanated from his lingam and penetrated deeply into him, then shot directly to his pineal gland opening his third eye.
The universe swirled before them and they were carried off into the ether of Source, still grounded in their earthly surroundings, but communing with souls and traveling at light speed through universal consciousness. He started to laugh the laughter of the universe. How very simple it is. It’s so easy and we silly humans make it so complex. But at its core, life is simple and so beautiful. On the other hand, the difficulties and the experience of separation are why we’re here, after all, acting in this grand opera. Source was laughing, saying, “Silly humans – enjoy the journey that you have.”
And as the cosmic couple lay there, they were laughing too. For all the mystical adventures they had experienced, it was in that moment that they discovered eternity. That very aspect of mindful awareness and connection to source and to each other that thinking destroys. They were outside of time and space and thought – what the Taoists call wu wei, the action of no action.
They both pulsed with the heartbeat of the universe. Their breath was synchronized with the breath of the universe. Their thoughts and feelings were intertwined with one another’s. They had experienced this feeling before, but this morning it was so much more brilliant and poignant.
Where were they? Who were they? When was this happening? Were they the fifty-something couple in 2018 lying in bed in California? Or were they the young Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist adepts secretly making love on the kitchen floor a millennium ago hoping they would not get caught? Or perhaps the White Tigress and her consort Jade Dragon in ancient China in 2000BC – after the Yellow Emperor, Huangdi. Or perhaps he was the lithe redhead with the soft pert breasts, and she the strapping young man from some future lifetime. Or was she the prehistoric shamanic priestess and he the chief’s son about to lead his first hunt for his tribe – both experiencing their rites of passage on a stone slab before roaring fire in the middle of the boreal forest of northern Europe?
In that moment, they had no way of knowing who, where, and when they were. It could be one of a hundred lifetimes, or all of them happening at once. They were the Primordial Tigress and the Celestial Dragon, the yin and the yang, Shakti and Shiva. Their energies had awoken through their individual practices and through the power of their connection. They had a soul love, and the power of their connection had re-awoken ancient soul knowledge, the knowledge of how to harness sexual energy for spiritual enlightenment and for bodily health, the knowledge of how to achieve immortality, as the ancient Taoists would say.
The knowledge was ancient and profound – first recorded in the annals of Kashmiri Shaivism in 6000BC in Northern India – the dawn of ancient civilization. But it did not matter whether the practice was called the heiros gamos of European pagans, the Illumination experience of Taoist lineages, the Mahamudra of the Vajrayana Buddhists, or the Secrets of The Bridal Chamber of the Christian Gnostics. In the end it was all about awakening and enlightened consciousness.
The practices were secret and closely guarded – and they still are, despite the aggressive dissemination of knowledge through books and the internet. But this is not mere knowledge. It is experience. And it is wisdom, ancient wisdom, not meant for the masses. Esme and Terence carried this wisdom with them from previous lifetimes, and the reconnection of these soul loves reawakened that knowledge. Over the course of three years, they rediscovered and cultivated their partner practice. Combined with their individual practices, this wisdom catapulted them into full awakening. Their story is one of love and connection across lifetimes. From the prehistoric to far into the future.
It’s a story of a seemingly chance meeting that opened a world of wonder and a re-connection to Source. And Source is still laughing.
After the Ceremony
As Esme and Terence drove back from the plant medicine ceremony, they chatted softly but excitedly about their individual experiences and their experience together. It had been a profound and powerful journey for both of them – a huge step on their healing paths and a profound shift in their healing agreement. It was a big step for each of them, and they were abuzz about what it all meant as they continued to process. Their agreement had shifted from one of healing and love to an agreement of love and support. It felt as if the healing and codependent part of their agreement had shifted completely.
It was a delightful ninety-minute drive on a beautiful sunny, crisp day. After days and days of rain, it seemed as if the sun came out just for them. The hills and the ocean were vibrant with color and motion – the entire universe seemed to be vibrating with life. They were exhausted though, and they collapsed into bed once they arrived at home.
Once in bed, they of course found themselves in a soft but passionate embrace. They both needed touch. They had experienced an intense eighteen-hour mind-body journey – though they journeyed side by side, it was largely an individual experience. Now they needed to reconnect physically.
They lay quietly under the warm blankets, feeling the heat from each other’s bodies. They touched gently, doing karezza on each other. The slow, light, single-pointed touching, gently drawing lines on each other’s bodies in turn. Through their touch, they drew the energy up along the meridian lines to the heart center. From the bubbling well point on the bottom of the foot, up the meridian lines on the inside of the legs to the lower dan tien and up to the heart center. Each of their energies was on fire from the ceremony, and it was easy to feel it move under their partners’ touch. It was felt from the toes all the way to the middle dan tien. Each finger awakened with touch, through the palms and along the arms to the heart center.
As they touched each other’s faces gently, their lips softly kissed. They intuitively started exploring one another’s lips with their tongues, lips and teeth, just as they remembered from the “kissing practice.” They couldn’t possibly move any slower, yet they did – they slowed to a glacial pace, simply savoring the deliciousness of the other’s touch and taste and smell. It was intoxicating. They had not showered that morning, and the journey had been a full-body experience. They smelled primal and the air was full of pheromones. Their heads swam in the delicious scent. Their scent carried the energy of their connection and the energy of awakening.
She pulled him slowly on top of her and invited him to enter her with her eyes. She was about to ask him to go slowly, but she knew that he already knew, so she just lay silent, gasping softly in anticipation. His lingam softly kissed her labia. With the power of thought, she spread her labia so that the tip of his lingam could feel the moistness of her desire forming between her lips. They kissed and cooed and smiled at each other as his lingam and her yoni danced softly. There was no pushing or prodding. It was as if they were barely moving. Yet yoni and lingam whispered to one another.
Yoni invited lingam to touch her. Lingam gently kissed yoni’s lips and felt the energy of her clitoral...
