Jonathan Arnott is a chess Candidate Master. He learned to play at the age of 4 and, as a junior, won the Sheffield Under-18 title for eight consecutive years as well as several Yorkshire junior titles. By winning the British Under-16 Junior Squad championships Jonathan earned a place in the British Under-21 squad. He captained Yorkshire from 2002-2004, leading the county to two national rapidplay titles. He has twice represented a top British side in the European Club Cup (which features most of the world's top players) and has competed in many other international events. He is an ECF-accredited coach and has coached at SASCA, the Sheffield junior chess club, for many years.
