The definitive guide to craft beer in Australia: its history, its big names and local heroes - and most importantly, 150 of its most distinctive brews.
This book is ideal for those just getting into beer or looking to understand what all of the fuss about craft beer is. Learn how to match beer with food or expand your knowledge about the famous brew beyond mass- produced lager. A great entry point for beginners or the perfect drinking guide for pros. This title is perfect for beer fans of all levels. For complete beginners, there is an extensive explanation of the brewing process and how to appreciate beer; for seasoned enthusiasts, there are plenty of insights into the Australian beer scene; and for everyone from novice to pro - and for all tastes - there is a comprehensive guide to some of the best beers being brewed in Australia today. Written in James's engaging and humorous style, this guide is informative, funny and packed to the gills with the fascinating stories of Australia's craft brewers, breweries and beers. Craft beer continues to grow in Australia, well over 100 microbreweries dot the landscape from coast to coast with more opening every month. Similarly, specialty beer bars and bottle shops are on the rise - some offering as many as 1000 different varieties from all over the world. Beer is the new wine

James Smith was born in the famous brewing town of Burton upon Trent in England. It was three decades and a move to Australia later before he became fully immersed in beer, however. A journalist by trade, he began exploring and writing about the country's burgeoning micro-brewing culture soon after arriving in Melbourne in 2008. Since christened 'Crafty' in reference to his website, The Crafty Pint, he writes about beer for Epicure, the James Halliday Wine Companion Magazine and Time Out, and is a founder and festival director of the annual Good Beer Week festival in Victoria.
