Author Guy Marks became an overland tour leader in the early 1990s, travelling widely through Egypt and the Middle East, South America and overland from England to Kathmandu. During this time he developed a deep love for Egypt, and returns there whenever he gets the chance. He is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers. Photographer James Morris has a strong interest in Islamic culture which led him to travel and photograph in North and West Africa, Yemen and Northern India, and he has returned to Egypt regularly over the last decade.
