Christopher Somerville spent his childhood in a remote village in rural Gloucestershire. He has written some 20 books, including guidebooks, walking guides, and personal travel accounts. He writes regularly for The Daily Telegraph (he is their Walking Correspondent) and The Sunday Times about his travels, on foot and otherwise, in the hidden corners of Britain and Europe. He also presents his own walking series on regional television.
