This Volume 1 of a two-volume topical collection highlights reproductive biotechnologies applied to males and females of different animal species. Organized in five parts, you will find a detailed review of the most relevant topics for reproduction management in equines, cattle, swine, and small ruminants. The authors discuss genomic selection, the use of ultrasound, sperm evaluation and conservation, oocyte retrieval, embryonic development, and significant clinical aspects such as stress and physiological impacts, including thermal conditions.
Each contributor brings an own perspective, knowledge, and writing style, resulting in the latest research results, advances, and current trends in assisted reproductive technologies. The volume also includes case studies and hands-on examples to provide readers with real-life applications. The practical approach will enhance the learning experience and differentiates this work from mainly theoretical literature.
Specifically tailored to the professional audience within the field of assisted animal reproduction, this book will update veterinarians, researchers, animal breeders, and advanced students. By presenting innovative techniques and approaches not widely covered in other works, this volume offers new perspectives and ideas for reproductive management.
Dr. Juan Carlos Gardón is currently a Professor at the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir, in the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery. He develops his academic career in the areas of animal physiology, animal reproduction, and reproductive biotechnology. He is also involved in postgraduate activities at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Murcia, Spain. His areas of research include animal physiology, reproductive biotechnology in both males and females, the study of gametes under in vitro conditions, and the use of ultrasound as a complement to physiological studies and the development of applied biotechnologies. Dr. Gardón has participated in the edition of 2 books and 18 book chapters in international publishers and has published 50 articles. He regularly supervises students preparing their doctoral thesis, doctoral thesis, master's thesis, or final projects.
Dr. Katy Satué Ambrojo has a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Córdoba, a Master's degree in Equine Technology, and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the CEU-Cardenal Herrera University. Dr. Satué develops her research activity in the field of endocrinology, hematology, biochemistry, and immunology in the mare, having directed 5 Doctoral Theses. She has participated in 11 research projects, has written 3 books and 15 book chapters in international publishers related to the area and regularly attends relevant congresses. Dr. Satué is a scientific reviewer for various international journals of recognized prestige such as Animals, Veterinary Clinical Pathology, Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Livestock Production Science, and Theriogenology, among others.
