This work provides information on how environmental conditions in Central Asia have been affected by anthropogenic activity and reviews research carried out during the last decades on the impact of the environment on the health of the region's people. The contributors' aim is to promote a better understanding of current environmental health problems in the area and to prompt joint multidisciplinary research by local scientists and their colleagues from other countries.
