In this work I searched for articles published on self-healing between 2001 and 2011 in national and international scientific journals. I selected and discussed eighty-nine papers in an attempt to bridge the gap between science and ancient health knowledge. These studies are presented to society through this publication, allowing for reflection and the possibility of contact with this ancient knowledge, stored in each of us, which awaits the moment when we decide to connect with it.

PhD student in Collective Health and member of the Study and Research Group on Integral Health Care (GEPICS) at FMB and the Mapping Group for Popular Education and Health Practices (MaPEPS) at UFSCar. Teacher and Specialist in Chinese Medicine, Massage Therapy and Natural Therapies for 15 years. Member-resident of the Tibá Ecovillage in São Carlos/SP.
