Carolyn Knight, Ph.D., MSW, is Professor of Social Work in the School of Social Work, University of Maryland Baltimore County. Dr. Knight is a licensed social worker with more than 20 years of experience--most of it pro bono--working individually and in groups with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. She is the author of WORKING WITH ADULT SURVIVORS OF CHILDHOOD TRAUMA: STRATEGIES AND SKILLS FOR HELPING PROFESSIONALS and PROCESS-ORIENTED GROUP THERAPY FOR ADULT SURVIVORS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, as well as numerous articles on working with survivors of childhood trauma in group and individual treatment. Dr. Knight is a frequently invited speaker and continuing education workshop leader for topics related to working with survivors of trauma, including ethical implications, considerations for supervision, group work, and strategies that assist trauma survivors in containing and expressing feelings. Dr. Knight also is a sought-after in-service training instructor and has extensive experience with front-line staff and supervisors in juvenile justice, child welfare, and mental health settings.
