This work provides a perspective on the area of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying human inflammatory disease, which has evolved from understanding the processes regulating leukocyte recruitment into inflamed tissues. It also examines factors regulating organ-specific leukocyte recruitment.
This work provides a perspective on the area of the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying human inflammatory disease, which has evolved from understanding the processes regulating leukocyte recruitment into inflamed tissues. The volume also examines factors regulating organ-specific leukocyte recruitment. An attempt is made to determine whether in vivo data validates or indicates a need for changing generally accepted paradigms on the processes regulating leukocyte recruitment into inflamed tissues. Finally, leukocyte recruitment is analyzed from a biomedical perspective: will the current understanding of this process and the technological capabilities enable the development of clinically useful agents which selectively modulate leukocyte recruitment?
