This book describes and illustrates the reconstructive surgical techniques appropriate in patients with skin cancer and melanoma, according to anatomic region, with a view to enabling readers to perform these techniques optimally. An extensive introductory section discusses skin cancer and melanoma from the points of view of dermatology, oncology, pathology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. The surgical treatment and reconstruction of localized skin cancer and melanoma in each anatomic region are then explained step by step with the aid of a wealth of color photos. The final section similarly presents the techniques and procedures appropriate for the surgical treatment and reconstruction of lymph node metastases, covering the sentinel node, lymphadenectomy, and lymphedema. This book will be immensely valuable for plastic and general surgeons, and also of interest for dermatologists, pathologists, oncologists, and nuclear medicine physicians.

Othon Papadopoulos, MD, PhD, is Emeritus Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UOA).  Dr. Papadopoulos graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UOA) in 1972 and went on to complete Certification in General Surgery in 1977. Then he moved to Paris for training in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, and Maxillofacial Surgery (French Board Certified in 1980). After one-year fellowship training in Reconstructive Microsurgery in Melbourne, he returned to Greece, where his positions included Director of the Plastic Surgery Unit at the “A.Syngros” Dermatological Hospital and Consultant in Laiko General Hospital in Athens. Dr. Papadopoulos was appointed Full Professor of Plastic Surgery in the School of Medicine of Athens University in 2010 and held this position until his retirement in 2015. He was also primary training supervisor in the Hellenic Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (HESPRAS). He is a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and was also a EURAPS (European Association of Plastic Surgeons) Council Member and local host of the EURAPS meeting in 2011. He is the author of two books, one of which received an award from the Academy of Sciences of Athens, as well as nine book chapters and more than 130 publications in international peer-reviewed journals.Nikolaos A. Papadopulos, MD, Ph.D., FACS, is a researcher, clinician and Full Professor in Plastic Surgery at the Alexandroupoli University Hospital, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, and the University Hospital rechts der Isar, Munich Technical University, Germany and Visiting Professor of Plastic Surgery at the School of Medicine, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His main interests are "Fetal and Adult Wound Healing", "The role of Fibroblasts/Myofibroblasts in anti-aging", "Adipose- and Blood-Derived Stromal Cells for Cell Therapy", "Aesthetic Surgery", "Sex Reassignment Surgery", and "Quality of Life after Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery". For his engagement in these fields he received among others the "Hans Anderl Award 2006" of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons.He served as President of the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society, the Hellenic Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the Greek Society of Lymphology. Currently he is Executive Committee Member of the Hellenic Society of Hand Surgery, Council Member at the European Association of Plastic Surgeons, and local host of its 31st EURAPS Annual Meeting in Athens, Greece, May 27-30, 2020.A graduate of the University of Perugia in Italy with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, Professor Papadopulos completed a doctoral degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Munich Technical University, Germany. He received his board certification as a Specialist in Plastic Surgery from the Bavarian Medical Association in March 2001 and his European acknowledgment as a "Specialist in Plastic Surgery" from the German Medical Association in August of the same year. He has worked as a Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the University Hospital rechts der Isar since 2002 and became a Professor of Plastic Surgery in 2009. Currently he is working as the Responsible for the Dept. of Plastic Surgery and Burns at the Alexandroupoli University Hospital. Prof. Papadopulos has received many awards and honors, served as Co-Editor of books and supplements, contributed in other books with different chapters, and published over 70 PubMed publications in international peer-reviewed journals.Grigorios G. Champsas, MD, MSc, PhD, is Academic Fellow in Plastic Surgery at Athens University School of Medicine, a Plastic Surgery researcher and clinician at the Andreas Syggros Hospital of Venereal and Dermatological Diseases, Athens, Greece, and also operates a private practice.He currently serves on the Oncology and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery committees for the Hellenic Society of Plastic Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (HESPRAS), where he is responsible for educational seminars, and is a member of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS) and 2nd Vice President at the Hellenic Society for the Study of Melanoma. A graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he subsequently also completed his doctoral degree, Dr Champsas specialized in Plastic Surgery at the General Hospital “KAT” in Athens, Greece.  He specialized in Breast Reconstructive Surgery (MSc) at the University of Rome La Sapienza, Sant’ Andrea Hospital. He is an invited reviewer for international journals. He has received several awards, contributed several book chapters, and published numerous articles in peer-reviewed international journals.
