This book provides a practical, concise review of current knowledge about Parkinson's disease, focusing on the theory and practice of its correct diagnosis and management. The author has aimed to provide the physician with a full account of the clinical vagaries of the several parkinsonian syndromes and to summarize the relevant knowledge of disordered physiology, pathology, and neurochemistry so that the clinical dilemmas relating to treatment are intelligible. Drawing on extensive knowledge and clinical and research experience, the author has chosen for discussion those aspects he has found most useful, as well as items of historical interest. A selection of references is provided for further study on the major topics. Special emphasis is given to the treatment of Parkinson's disease, since this exercises the physician's utmost clinical and humane skills and knowledge.
