Appropriate for beginning to intermediate level courses in designing and engineering electric circuits, machines, devices, or power electronics; or in electrical system analysis and operation.
With this book, students can master electric circuits, machines, devices, and power electronics hands-on, without the use of expensive equipment. Using custom-written LabVIEW Virtual Instruments, Nesimi Ertugrul introduces every key topic associated with the analysis and operation of a wide range of AC and DC circuits, electrical machines, and drives–including high-voltage/current/power applications covered in no other book. Coverage includes: periodic waveforms, harmonics, equivalent resistance, and equivalent circuits; AC circuit analysis, power triangles, power factor correction, and three-phase AC systems; magnetic circuits, BH characteristics, and losses; as well as phasors, transformers, and complex/active/reactive powers. Ertugrul presents contemporary techniques of simulation and animation for understanding the operation of diode and SCR conduction, diode rectifiers, AC choppers, cycloconverters, and inverters; and reviews each category of motor, including asynchronous, stepper, and brushless permanent magnet motors. Ertugul presents detailed background on every topic, along with full Virtual Instrumentation (VI) panels, complete laboratory practices, hardware information, wiring diagrams, practical circuits, printed circuit layouts, and self-study questions. This http://www.phptr.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=0130618861&rl=1#info4. contains a complete copy of LabVIEW 6 Evaluation Version, plus all VIs presented in the book, allowing readers to test diverse operating conditions for a wide range of circuits.
NESIMI ERTUGRUL is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide, where he specializes in the development of interactive computer-based teaching/learning systems involving object-oriented programming and data acquisition. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. Dr. Ertugrul is a Member of IEEE and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the International Journal of Engineering Education (IJEE). He coordinated and edited two special issues on LabVIEW Applications in Engineering Education, and on Remote Access and Distance Learning Laboratories for IJEE.
