Spirited Away was awarded the Golden Bear as the Best Feature Film at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival and won the 2002 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature Film. Earwig and the Witch was an official selection for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. The studio’s latest film, The Boy and The Heron, released in Japan on July 14, 2023, has been awarded the Golden Globe, BAFTA and the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature in 2024. The studio received an Honorary Palme d’or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
