The Peep Through series combines important preschool concepts, original illustrations and a fun format to gently facilitate early learning.
The large format and sturdy pages mean that parent and child can share the experience, both interacting with the beautiful illustrations and innovative die-cut shapes. The books invite children to peep through each hole onto the next page, discovering new concepts and practicing coordination and motor skills. Jane Ormes’ eye-catching prints beautifully demonstrate these concepts and skills and help children to remember them, offering clean, simple shapes with texture and detail for closer attention.
Currently with four titles, this series is a perfect way for children to start learning before school. Focusing on colours, numbers, opposites and first words, the series provides an engaging, interactive experience for both parent and child.
Jane Ormes is a printmaker with a passion for pattern and the absurd. She grew up in Germany, Cyprus and Buckinghamshire and studied Surface Pattern Design at Leicester Polytechnic, graduating in 1987. She is now a freelance designer and printmaker, exhibiting her screen prints at galleries throughout the countries. Jane has worked with a number of high-profile clients, including IKEA, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis, and once spotted one of her card designs on the desk during the Queen’s Christmas Day speech. She currently lives in Bristol with her family and two blind cats, keeping a loft studio at the Spike Print Studio on the waterfront. Alongside her printing work, she likes to run, sing and dance and her current crush is “that chap off Poldark”.Words, and pictures: two little words that, together, mean a lot. A high-quality imprint for young children, words & pictures was started in 2012. The imprint encapsulates three main focuses: imagination – because opening a book should also open a child's own imagination to possibilities; innovation – because children should be encouraged to create, not imitate; and inspiration – because books should make children want more: more books, more information, more of life itself. words & pictures represents a powerful and positive opportunity to open children's minds to a world of discovery.
