This resource uses "click and drag" mousing to turn 32 pages of the virtual missal, with print and zoom facilities. Text is included about each page, and Michelle Brown explaines the missal's history and significance. Bird song and medieval music accompany the manuscript.
This CD-ROM enables the user to view the pages of "The Sherborne Missal" - one of the British Library's greatest treasures. The Sherborne Missal was produced around 1400 CE for Sherborne Abbey in Dorset. Unusually for a manuscript of the period, it includes a -large number of British birds in the decorative borders. The user can click and drag the mouse to turn the pages forward or backward, and there are print and zoom facilities. Text about each page is included alongside the manuscript, and the CD-ROM includes and extensive essay by Michelle Brown, Curator of Illuminated Manuscripts at the British Library, explaining the history and significance of the Sherborne Missal. Thirty two pages have been digitised, plus the cover, and the text is available as large print, and as audio. It also features bird sounds and the music of the period
